EPIC Technologies Leverages DiCentral for Enhanced Visibility and Automation of Supply Chain Processes

Company Profile:

For over two decades, EPIC Technologies has provided electronic manufacturing services to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the industrial control, automotive, medical, computer and telecommunications industries. EPIC specializes in providing comprehensive solutions, in design, manufacturing, and direct fulfillment for their customers. They also assist in the engineering process, from circuit development, component selection, to packaging, as well as validation and product testing to maximize functionality, reliability and cost effectiveness. EPIC has tailored their operations to medium volume, higher mix segments of their target markets for the last five years. With locations in Ohio, Tennessee, Mexico, and Texas, EPIC has established a significant presence in the microelectronics industry.

Problem:

EPIC was using another EDI provider who met the majority of their needs, but EPIC wanted more visibility into the EDI transactions they were sending to their trading partners, as they could not see who had actually received their EDI documents on time. Epic was leveraging a Legacy application to manage much of their backend data management, and while this system worked well for them, many providers were incompatible with their software. Solution:

By utilizing DiCentral’s web-hosted system, EPIC was able to automate all their EDI data without the use of software, giving them a significant increase in speed without a costly upfront investment. DiCentral’s systems are compatible with Legacy applications, and by applying the DiCentral solutions, EPIC gained the ability to meet the requirements of over 40 vendors. By sending their EDI data to their clients’ VANs via DiCentral, and with the DiCentral interface, EPIC was now capable of seeing which documents had been viewed and processed immediately, granting the company the visibility and insight into the EDI process they had been looking for.

Benefit:

With the assistance of DiCentral, EPIC enabled two new locations, and the supply chain for all their facilities was accessible by the web at any location. EPIC now has maximum visibility into their supply chain process, which allows them to manage their transactions and make decisions swiftly and effectively. EPIC continues to leverage their Legacy software, but now they have been given the opportunity to establish enhanced relationships, even with an older application. EPIC stands at the forefront of the microelectronic component vertical, and DiCentral has played a role in their advancement within their industry.
