Reduce Costs Through Systems Integration
By Jean Respass, Director of Client Relations
Is your business process allowing you to respond efficiently to the demands of your customers? As organizations work toward managing efficiencies throughout their supply chain, suppliers are frequently called upon to respond quickly. A quick solution may accommodate your customer’s requirement only to leave a less than desired business process for you to routinely manage on a manual and frequent basis.
If your company is searching to identify opportunities that will cut costs and still accommodate an increase in sales we recommend Systems Integration to efficiently simplify your customer’s requirements.
When should you consider Integration?
1. When internal resources must increase to accommodate an increase in customer demand. This includes additional resources required to manage the “EDI” customer or when internal resources are necessary for overtime to keep up with EDI requirements.
- This practice will continue to subtract from the profit margin gained from the sale of products and services.
- Manual entries create the opportunity for errors. Errors erode away profits through charge-backs and Invoice offsets.
2. When charge-backs continue to increase. Specific types of charge-backs are an indication to your customer that you are not able to accommodate an increase in order demand. These may be affiliated with manual errors or missing documents.
- Charge-backs or Invoice offsets affiliated with supply chain errors erode your profit margin.
- Charge-backs or Invoice offsets affiliated with supply chain errors impact your vendor scorecard.
- Errors affect your relationship to your buyer and cause you to appear as a less than desirable resource.
3. When customer order demands require expeditious or continuous feedback and your business response procedure is totally dependant on human intervention.
- Manual routines are limited to human reaction. If your systems are totally dependant on human intervention and you are constantly searching for missing orders, you are missing an opportunity to increase your sales.
- If your response procedure continues to miss the customer deadlines, this does affect your relationship to your buyer and cause you to appear as a less than dependable resource.
The Business Benefits of Systems Integration:
- Outsource non-core business activities so that you can focus on servicing the customer and increasing sales
- Improved operational efficiency by automating the exchange of documents between your customers and trading partners
- Opportunity to increase sales and customer service utilizing internal resources without excessive ongoing costs
