EDI Carbon Copying—Making EDI Easier For You

Carbon copying is an automated DiCentral process for copying any EDI documents used in your normal business flow and sending the copies to any additional parties. As a value-added feature, EDI documents can be copied securely to your broker, warehouse, or manufacturer to provide visibility and accessibility for your supply chain.

Examples of EDI carbon copying include:

• EDI documents received from a trading partner can be carbon copied to a third party outside or inside DiCentral’s network.DiCentral users can receive purchase orders (850s) into their master account then have DiCentral carbon copy them to one or more warehouse sub-accounts.
• A user sends an invoice (810) to a trading partner, DiCentral can carbon copy it to the user’s factor, whether the factor uses DiCentral or not.

• A retailer can send product activity data (852s) to their supplier who uses DiCentral and can carbon copy it to the supplier’s factor.
• A user can have a different or pre-existing EDI provider carbon copy purchase orders (850s) to DiCentral for the purpose of creating complex documents such as advance ship notices (856s).

Carbon copying is just one more way DiCentral can save you time and resources simultaneously, helping your operation run efficiently.

DiCentral Upgrades Web Forms

We are pleased to announce that our customers may now use our .NET login to enter their DiCentral accounts. The .NET technology allows DiCentral to improve our software for the display and editing of EDI document Web forms (such as 856 ASNs and 810 Invoices, etc). You may notice a smoother look and feel to the forms, as well as coming improvements such as additional calculation functions to make the forms “smarter”.

Installation of the Microsoft .NET Framework onto your computer is necessary to view and edit the .NET version of our EDI forms. With administrator access to your computer you can easily download the .NET framework at the Microsoft .NET download page. This only needs to be done once.

After installation, you can begin using the .NET login to access your DiCentral account, conveniently located on the same page as the traditional login. (See illustration below)

You may still use the old login without using .NET, but we encourage you to upgrade to the .NET framework. Our previous form technology used Microsoft Java Virtual Machine (JVM), support for which is now being phased out.

Eric Braswell, our senior director of global channels, has been recognized by CRN Magazine for the second year in a row as a Top Channel Chief.
