Retailer Streamlines Operations

NWL Names DiCentral 'Preferred Provider'

National Wholesale Liquidators (NWL), one of the nation's leading discount chains, has named DiCentral Corporation its preferred Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) provider to further automate NWL's supply chain process.

To ensure wide adoption of its automated order management process, DiCentral will use its patented Community Enablement Campaign to help NWL's vendors use EDI to document and automate the order-fulfillment process.

The enablement program includes the opportunity for 4,000-plus NWL suppliers to use DiCentral's hosted services to meet the retailer's requirements for purchase orders, advance ship notices (ASNs) and UCC128 bar code labels.

"DiCentral's services are critical to us because we want to make sure that our supply chain is moving forward smoothly in productivity," says John Perry, Chief Information Officer for NWL. "We're a big advocate of all forms of EDI. It's essential that we partner with companies that can help us move forward."

DiCentral is helping NWL leverage its EDI technology to improve the efficiency of NWL's centralized warehouse facility and warehouse management system, especially with the use of the UCC 128 label and cross docking the bulk of NWL's merchandise through its warehouse facilities and out to its stores.

"We have 53 stores, two ware- house facilities, and more than 4,000 vendor partners," says Perry. "We're a deep discount general merchandise retailer. We do a lot of closeout business. Half of our business is first line closeouts. We carry everything from food to rugs to furniture, pretty much everything across the board."

NWL sought DiCentral "to help get suppliers rapidly on board with EDI technology," says Perry. "We're in the midst of a rollout now."

5th Anniversary of the VCF Conference

DiCentral briefs

th Anniversary of the VCF

DiCentral’s team attended the VCF conference last November in Scottsdale, AZ.

The emphasis for this fifth anni- versary of the VCF was the workflow process behind the EDI document.

Accuracy and the monitoring of data prior to the creation of EDI documents was an underlying theme for effective trading relationships, a theme that is nothing new to DiCentral whose existing Web applications insure field critical accuracy.

The VCF conference represents an opportunity to meet DiCentral customers and to better understand retailer expectations for improving processes.

“We are pleased to be able to positively assess our solutions to the scale of the market,” says Carl Padovano, product manager at DiCentral.

“Many attendees said they knew of DiCentral. We are building a solid reputation for delivering effective EDI solutions to the retail Industry.

Worldlink Logistics works with the supplier to provide accurate packing information and utilizes the DiCentral solution to create ASNs and print appropriate shipping labels in Hong Kong.

Many of the larger retailers such as Hibbet Sporting Goods or JCPenney – and the VCF organization itself –are recommending us as the emerging leader in the SME retail-supplier marketplace.”
