Texas Supplier Makes The Switch to DiCentral
To continue doing business with his big retail customers, Billy Gerke was told he had to use EDI.
So Gerke – owner of Foreverlast, Inc., a small Texas manufacturer of high quality fishing and hunting products – found an EDI service bureau.

Foreverlast’s customers include Academy and Cabela’s, two big retailers who require their suppliers to be EDI compliant.
“We started outsourcing our EDI transactions to a service bureau,” says Gerke, “and I can say that at the time, we really perceived EDI as a burden. We would pay a fee to the service bureau to end up doing more paper work, continue sending and receiving our transactions by fax, and still undergo extra delays and errors due to the manual handling of our documents.”
But it wasn’t long before Gerke had had enough. He investigated the possibilities offered by EDI and decided to switch from their service bureau to DiCentral.
“Now I see EDI as a genuinely great B2B tool” says Gerke. “Using DiCentral’s services helped us increase our efficiency and improve our customer service. We soon realized the benefits of EDI on our side. Less paper work, more control over our documents. Since we started using DiCentral’s services, we’ve cut our transaction time by 15 percent.”

DiCentral's Service & Price Win Over OIE America
When California - based apparel wholesaler OIE America started supplying Kohl’s department stores, OIE was told to send its business documents electronically.
“Selecting our EDI provider was an important choice” says Maritza Hernandez, OIE America EDI coordinator. “When we started using DiCentral’s services, we were totally new to EDI and wanted a provider who could accompany us in our first steps and combine superior customer service and cost effectiveness.”
The quest for efficiency in the retail industry’s supply chain has transformed the way OIE does business, says Hernandez. “We suppliers are confronted with two paradoxical requirements,” she says. “On the one hand, we need to be more responsive and streamline the communication flow, while on the other hand, we need to meet continuously changing business requirements, decrease the time we spend processing orders, and minimize errors.”
Since they started sending electronic documents, DiCentral has enabled OIE to increase efficiency and extend the wholesaler’s con- nections to other hubs such as Mervyn’s and Belk Stores.
“EDI is a learning process, and the DiCentral technical team’s respon- siveness enables us to focus on our core business and receive help whenever we need it,” concludes Hernandez.
