For suppliers who prefer a more traditional means of transmitting documents, DiCentral's DiService Bureau converts faxed, emailed, or mailed documents to EDI. DiCentral's cost-effective EDI network safely and securely transmits documents to virtually any trading partner, allowing suppliers to achieve compliance while avoiding the frustration and complexity of managing EDI in-house.

With DiService Bureau, your Advance Ship Notices (ASNs) and Invoices are converted and sent electronically to your trading partners just as if you were sending them from your own in-house EDI department.

DiService Bureau for Retailers

Reduce the Negative Impact of Suppliers Who Are Not EDI-Capable

If you have suppliers who are not EDI compliant, your profits will inevitably suffer due to the extra time necessary to manually process POs, Invoices, and ASNs. For example, manually processed POs and Invoices cost $10 each; each carton that arrives without an ASN costs warehouses on average $35 or more to receive; items received without an ASN costs $0.45 or more per item. Those extra costs add up and can become substantial-and they are also completely avoidable.

DiService Bureau translates the "data" from your non-compliant suppliers to EDI and then sends the data directly to you in the format that you stipulate, which is then integrated directly into your ERP system.

Features for Retailers:
  • Allows your vendors to process data in the same manner that they do today
  • DiCentral becomes your "Service Bureau" for all paper (fax, email, phone) to EDI
  • Paper and e-mail are integrated into your ERP using the same infrastructure - no need for separate APIs
  • Your trading partner undergoes almost no change other than faxing or emailing to new address

What is EDI and why is it important?

EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) is an electronic communication system that provides standards for exchanging data via any electronic means. By adhering to the same standard, two different companies, even in two different countries, can electronically exchange documents (such as Purchase Orders, Invoices, Advance Shipping Notices, and many others). EDI has existed for more than 30 years, and there are many EDI standards (including X12, EDIFACT, ODETTE, etc.), some of which address the needs of specific industries or regions.

Exchanging data electronically not only saves companies time and money, but makes it easier, more efficient, and error-free by using computers to transfer all data between a company and its trading partners, rather than faxing or sending handwritten documents through the mail.
